TourismThe Township of Fauquier-Strickland has beautiful tourism attractions. All of our attractions are not organized by the municipality but they are certainly a must see. Whether you are looking for a rest area/relaxing environment, recreational activities, Fauquier-Strickland has a lot to offer.Groundhog River The Groundhog River can be utilized for a variety of activities such as: fishing, hunting, kayaking, canoeing, site seeing and pleasure usage. Lakes The municipality includes two lakes; Gerard Lake and Shackleton Lake. Fauquier Park The Fauquier Park is an excellent rest area. You will enjoy walking in our well maintained pathways. You can enjoy a picnic in our beautiful gazebo. Expanse of Land Fauquier-Strickland has vast expanse of lands for hunting big and/or small game in autumn. You will certainly not be disappointed by your trip to our communities during the hunting season. Recreational Facilities The Township of Fauquier-Strickland is working on rejuvenating its recreational facilities. This includes tennis court, basketball court, baseball diamond / soccer field, outdoor rink, and also the Sporsplex (Sports complex). An NOHFC grant in the amount of $231,500.00 will permit us to complete the work. If you want to practice your favorite sports, Fauquier will be the place to do it. The Fauquier-Strickland recreational committee has received a grant from the Ministry of Health Promotion through the Communities in Action Fund (CIAF) program, a key component of the Active 2010 initiative in order to purchase sports equipment. Trails Fauquier-Strickland has well maintained OFSC (Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs) trails. | |||
