Building Department

  Documents

The Council of each municipality is responsible for the enforcement of the “Building Code Act” and the regulations made thereunder, in the municipality.

No person shall construct or demolish a building or cause a building to be constructed or demolished unless a permit has been issued.

The “Ontario Building Code” is essentially a set of minimum provisions respecting the safety of buildings with reference to public health, fire protection, accessibility and structural sufficiency.  It also sets out technical requirements for the construction (including renovation) and demolition of buildings.  Its primary purpose is the promotion of public safety through the application of appropriate uniform building standards.

Please refer to the “By-law” section of our site, to view our regulations.
