Housing Department

The CDSSAB Housing Department is responsible for the administration and funding of housing, affordable and homelessness programs in the Cochrane District.

Children's Services

Under the Child Care and Early Years Act, the Cochrane District Social Services Administration Board, Children’s Services Department manages the funding for the provision of a variety of programs, including:

  • EARLYON

  • FEE SUBSIDY

  • SPECIAL NEEDS RESOURCING

  • FAMILY RESOURCE CENTRES (EarlyON Child & Family Centres /BEST START HUBS)

  • WAGE ENHANCEMENT

  • GENERAL OPERATING GRANT

  • CAPACITY BUILDING

  • TRANSFORMATION

  • REPAIRS AND MAINTENANCE

  • CHILDCARE PLANNING

  • INVESTING IN CHILDREN AND FAMILIES PROGRAM

 

Ontario Works

Ontario Works is intended to be a program that provides both financial and employment assistance on a temporary basis to eligible residents of Ontario.

 

Eligibility is reviewed on a monthly basis.  Eligibility is also conditional, therefore, all adult members are required to adhere to certain rules and conditions set out by the Ministry of Community and Social Services.  Furthermore, all adult members are required to mutually negotiate Participation Agreements with the ultimate goal of exiting Ontario Works due to recipients becoming financially stable and self-sufficient.

 

The following are items that can be covered:

  • Basic living allowance (food)

  • Housing cost/utilities

  • Basic dental and vision care

  • Health necessities such as; special diets, diabetic, surgical and medical supplies

  • Emergency assistance

  • Employment benefits
